JUNK HEAVEN

OK FRIENDS, I'M NOT DONE WITH MY TAXES BUT I FIGURE I TAKE A BREAK AND POST SOME PICTURES OF THE JUNK HEAVEN THAT IS ROUNDTOP TX. I STOPPED ATTENDING THIS SHOW FOR ABOUT 2 SEASONS OUT OF DISAPPOINTMENT ABOUT THE FACT THAT I COULD NOT AFFORD TO BUY FOR RESALE. THIS YEAR THOUGH AFTER READING ABOUT SO MANY BLOGGERS THAT LIVE IN OTHER STATES WISHING THEY LIVE CLOSER AND DREAMING ABOUT THE DAY THEY CAN MAKE THE TRIP I DECIDED THAT I HAVE BEEN TAKING FOR GRANTED THE BIG GIFT THAT IT IS TO LIVE IN TX WITH ALL THE SHOWS AND GREAT PEOPLE. I THINK THAT IF YOU ARE IN THE ANTIQUES BUSINESS TX CAN EASILY BE CONSIDER MECCA FOR DEALERS. THEY SAY TEXANS BRAG A LOT, I THINK IT IS NOT BRAGGING, WE REALLY LIVE IN AN AMAZING PLACE.

IMAGINE TOWNS FULL AND FLOODED WITH THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND UNIQUE ITEMS YOU HAVE EVER SEEN. THEN IMAGINE ALL THE DEALERS, ARTISTS, CRAFTERS AND FAMOUS JUNKERS ALL THERE TO PLEASED AND GREET YOU.
I'M NOT GOING TO MENTION THE FOOD BECAUSE THAT IS ANOTHER STORY. COME HUNGRY, THEY WILL FEED YOU GOOD!
I SPEND TWO DAYS IN THE FIELS AND SHOWS IN ROUNDTOP AND WARRENTON ONLY. TO COVER AL THE SHOWS AND TOWNS YOU WILL HAVE TO STAY THERE FOR  THE WHOLE 2 WEEKS.
EVERYBODY WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A WELL KNOWN DESIGNER WAS HAPPY TO LET YOU TAKE PICTURES. I LOVE THE RESPONSE OF ANOTHER DESIGNER WHEN I ASKED FOR HER PERMISSION TO TAKE PICTURES OF HER BOOTH. SHE SAID TO GO AHEAD VERY GLADLY AND TOLD ME SHE DIDN'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH PICTURES SINCE NOBODY IS ORIGINAL, IT ALL HAVE BEEN DONE. I AGREED WITH HER.

THIS GUYS CAN REALLY  MERCHANDISE.

I FAIL TO WRITE DOWN NAMES SO JUST KNOW THAT IF I TOOK A PICTURE OF YOUR VIGNETTES I CONSIDERED YOU THE BEST OF THE BEST.

THESE LAST 2 PICTURES I BELIEVED BELONG TO THERESA CANO'S BOOTH. DO YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN?
I GOT MORE PICTURES FOR PINK SATURDAY AND A LOT OF WHITE FOR THE NEXT WW. UNTIL THEN CHICKIES, BLESSINGS, MARTA.

Going to Roundtop!!!!

Just a quick note. I will be back with a bang. I'm planning on taking a million photos of the big show on Friday. I'm so excited!. I'm still not fully recovered from the fall in the ice, who cares, once the shopping adrenaline kicks in I will be fine, no morphine, just shopping bliss. After that is back to doing taxes and I may say I rather have a root canal. I will be back to the show on Monday only this time I wont be driving. I will be back as many times I get invited, I love the spring shows. I will be posting for Pink Saturday, I promise. I have painted and painted pieces this week. I can't keep furniture in the shop, it sells quickly. Anyway, I miss you all so much. Blessings, Marta.

I'm so sorry

What a week!.  I didn't have the energy nor the time to post for White Wednesday or Pink Saturday which happened to be my favorite blog parties. I 'm bummed over the fact that I  probably will not hear from my pinky friends and those girls know how to brighten anybody's day. I went shopping today and spent crazy amounts of money. I love everything I got, want to keep a lot of it, I must talk myself out of it. It's almost 1:00 AM and I'm blogging, arg...Next week is looking even busier, with the big show (Roundtop) starting on Friday and the Easter Tea @ the shop on Sunday. I spend most of the week taking advantage of the weather and painting. I managed to paint an entire dining set and china and a couple other pieces. Tired is the ultimate word, tired but happy, this is what I love to do. I must go to bed and try to rest, have a blessed weekend and don't forget about me, I miss you all. Blessings, Marta.

Fun with friends and our love of anything tea

Texans know how to throw a party, specially a tea party. Last year we celebrated our first Easter Tea at the shop. Don't ask me how but we managed to accommodate all the girls. it was a little tight, but that make it cozy.

The ladies went all out, so beautifully dress with their hats and vintage jewelry.

We play a version of bingo called teago, just tea words instead of numbers. We got prizes for all the winners.

Look at my friend Denise, mouth full, sorry friend.

That year we have a back to back teas. The ladies enjoy it so much that we schedule and booked a mothers day tea the same day.

This Belton belle is part of the hostess crew. Her name is Joy and she honors her name.

This is Miss Ann preparing some gifts. We have an egg hunt with party favors. I have never seen grown up women play and laugh like little girls; fun, fun, fun.

Joy about to strangle Miss Ann. Miss Ann does all the cooking and my God, there was so much food.

See what I'm saying about the food.
The girl with the black hat is the biggest enthusiast for tea parties. The pink hat lady is her mom. She was visiting from Brazil.

This two are a mom and daughter.

Precious

Look at her, isn't her beautiful?

I think their sweet smiles tell the story.

The young lady serving tea is Ms. Ann granddaughter.

I will post more tea party pictures after White Wednesday. We already have set the date for this year Easter Tea. It will be@ Marta's Room in Belton TX on the 28th of March @ 1:00 PM. If you happen to be in the area and want to be part of our celebration let us know by calling (254) 681-7752 or e mail me. Believe me it is worth every single penny. Blessings, Marta.

My pink loot from Accumulations vintage fare

Last Wednesday I was lucky enough to be invited to tag along with my dear friends Shawn and Krista to a vintage show in Drippings Springs Tx. Let me tell you, Hill Country in Texas is so beautiful and that is even before spring turn all the browns and taupes into beautiful greens. The ride there was LONG, try crossing Austin at rush hours. The 1 hour commuting turn into 2. It was all worth it. The quality of the vendors there was superb, this guys are the who is who of the antique business in this area. There was no fee for the entrance and the prices were reasonable. I think I found so many things that I love that I might keep it all.  Now the stuff you like PICTURES!

This little chick with the crown, the eggs and the toy are some of Linda's creations. She and her husband Ludmill are the proprietors of the famous Willow Nest. They have been feature in various national magazines. They  are both such a sweet and humble couple. They are both artists in their own mediums and so inspiring to me.

This pink hat I trade with a friend for a black victorian purse. The velvet millinery flowers look like dried hydrangeas.

A different shot of the grouping. The wire thingy is a wire body-form to which Linda added trims and pieces of pink fabric.
Those pink eggs are the most beautiful shade of pink. I bought another jar full of robins egg color ones. I think I'm going to color match both colors for some of the furniture.

The pink lamp, isn't georgeous. I need to rewire it but I love that shade and the fact that it is in such good shape.

Last but not least, the baby, have you seen a sweeter face? The scoop in her is such a happy event for me. My friend Krista is in the process of closing her antique business. I have admired and drooled over her for months, I just didn't have the money to splurge. Wednesday we met at her store and as she walked towards me I noticed the baby in her hand. She put her in my arms like you would a real baby and just gave her to me!!!!! I'm a happy mama now, proud mom of a sweet little girl that needed a new home. Krista, thank you, I do not deserve all the kindness that you and Shawn have bestowed upon me. I will considered myself  blessed if I get to keep you and your family as my friends for ever. Love you before the doll, love you always.

I called this pretty thing a toy because I can not remember the name, not even in Spanish!

Love the tag and the pretty french ribbon, details that make this even more special.

Last, some beautiful  trims in the most beautiful shade of pink. I'm dreaming pillows, with little pleated ruffles and some of this trims.
I'm very excited about tomorrow. We are going to one of the sales I look forward to attend. Spring is coming and with that happy treasure hunting days ahead. This is the time of the year when I get most of my inventory. I will post and share  my finds with you all. The friends close to my shop, come on by one of this days. Thanks to our host Ms. Beverly for so faithfully continue to oversee over this party. She have a list of the rest of the pinky friends in her blog HOW SWEET THE SOUND. Blessings, Marta.

Accumulations Show

Ah... nothing like friends and amazing junk. This are some of the amazing vendors that participated at the Accumulations Show. Most of them need no introduction, especially Linda an Ludmill from Willow Nest. The show will be today too until 4:00. It is beautiful Hill Country, you will love it.

My friend Denise

Micki and Brandy's booth

Willow Nest beauties. I just wish I can load all their wares in my truck and called a day.

Finally one of the most beautiful persons I have ever met. This Lady is beautiful in and out. I wish I live next door and she can adopt me. Have you ever seen her creations? I love you Linda, your sweet spirit shines thru.
Lastly but not less important, I thought we took pictures of the rest of the celebrities and artists in site. I guess my friends didn't know how to use my camera. No pictures of my dear friend Theresa and the gracious hostess, mom and daughter Micki and Brandy. Girls, next time I will do the picture taking. LOL to all of you and THANKS for the great time. Blessings, Marta.
Pd My heart was so moved by this, tell me if this business is not full of amazing people that care for others. Theresa lost about 300.00 dollars worth of ironstone, the wind knocked it over her display and it all broke. You know what this people did? They went and gather ironstone from their wares and gave the pieces to Theresa. Now, top that. I LOVE THIS PEOPLE.

White Wednesday babies

Hello WW friends. I thought I will show a table vignette I put together at the shop. As some of you might know I own a shop and I don't have any vendors, it is just moi and my junk. Well, sometimes I just start to run out of ideas and stuff. I have sooo many tables and cabinets that I try to keep fully merchandise, CONSTANTLY, never ending cycle. You friends that own shops know how demanding it is, sometimes trying to make your merchandise stand out as much as you can, making the old look new by shaking and moving things around a lot. I always get a lot of feedback from faithfull costumers that keep coming back, the reason been that they can not believe how much the shop changes from week to week.
In the mean this shop owner is getting her butty kick by so much work. We work so hard, no pitty party, this is what I chose to do and feel so blessed by the fact that I get to do exactly what I dream to do.
I decided to showcase my babies and kid related stuff. This cloche needs something, hum...

I'm purging some of my bears, reluctantly
This baby is the son of Chucky. Somebody did a number in his eyes, spooky.

This baby is so ugly and then I make him metrosexual(dress him like a girl when he is clearly a BOY).  Love the little wool hat and the slippers.
Little  bear and boy stuff vignette.  That tattered bear was missing an ear. I gave him one but he is still one sad bear and one very wanted bear. He is not for sale.
The slippers, so Hollywood baby and just made in Texas.
This little elephant is mohair, so old and cute.
                                                     Boy stuff

                                                     Boys, boys, boys

That little girl in the picture I love, she reminds me of somebody, I just can't tell who.
Well  dear friends, go and visit the rest of the WW posse. Thanks to our host Ms. Kathleen @ Faded Charm. If you want beautiful whites she is one of the best in blogland. Blessings, Marta.
