I can't sleep!

Ok, what is up with that? It is past 12:00 pm and I can't sleep  and I don't understand it because I'm exhausted and I really need to rest. I feel like there are ants crawling inside my skin and friends, I'm not on drugs. What ? My body is betraying me, doing what it wants to do. The choices are to stay in bed and count a million sheep, watch infomercials or blog about randomness. I pick blogging.

Just cute stuff around the house

The fluffing continues. I don't think Martha  will approve my fake fireplace mantel. I dig it!

Isn't him handsome in a nerdy kind of way?
                                                          LOVE china head dolls

                                                                Love dogs with an attitude

                                                    Love the aged and tattered

                                                         He thinks he is cute
A basket full of good junk

Another one of those girls and my favorite creamware tea set.  It is stamp coronation ware and I have never been able to find any info about it. It came with 10 cups and saucers, lots of creasing, demitasse size.
I'm getting ready for my junk sale on Saturday. Friday is the Antique Alley in Cleburne and next week is off to Roundtop for the best show in the whole world. Blessings and sweet dreams, Marta.

Let's not forget

Do you remember that day? I do like it was yesterday. I get teary eye and my heart hurts every time. I do not have to watch the news to remember. It is engraved in my consciousness, in my heart. I watch the news and documentaries on tv since then, for every anniversary. I'm still sick about the level of hatred and evil those who committed the act nurture and let grow in their hearts. But the most amazing thing is not related in any way to the evil ones. The most amazing thing is what happened to us that day. We realized what we are made of. The stories about the heroes of 9/11 are endless. We still grief, we will never forget. The intention was to destroy, to kill, to steal. THEY FAILED. America stands stronger than ever, the heroes still fight and those who die will forever lived in our hearts. God bless America and those who called it home.

The way we were

Dear God! I'm worn out. Every part of me hurts. We have been working non stop on getting my older home ready for rent, we moved my household into my new place and for the last 2 weeks we have been cleaning, moving, sorting, dumping, literally killing myself in the process of getting my junk out of the old shop address. Logistically this have been the biggest undertake in my hole life. I have tried to protect my husband health by letting him stay at home and worked around the details at the new shop and the house. I figured that with his bad back he would have been out of commission fast and without me bringing an income I need him to take care of all the bills for now.

I miss my old shop. A lot of the stuff in the pictures is gone. Still , we have brought truck loads after truck loads to the new place. Mind you the new shop is 800 sf smaller. I'm going to be facing a great challenge making most of the stuff fit in the space I have now.

This is how the old shop looks today. Sooo sad. Some of my costumers have been freaking out thinking I'm going out of business. I am NOT. This is my life and I love doing what I do.
I'm getting rid of a lot stuff, figurines, dishes, fabrics, etc. I will be selling the stuff at 90% below cost. Why storing the stuff when nobody is buying?. I refuse to pay storage on stuff that will not make me any money. I rather let the stuff go and called it a lost.

                                                                         SO SAD

I must look toward the future and all the great things to come. I'm trying to keep myself alive in the process. My back is killing me, I stay up at night in pain. The next morning I get up and do it all again. I know is worth it. I forgot to mention God's provision. He has blessed my with wonderful friends. I have great packers, some great muscles on weekends and some great cooks that have fed me and my husband. I thank God for all of them and you know who you are. Thank you, I could have not done alone. Let's see what today brings, I'm tired but ready. Blessings, Marta.

Loving my screened-in porch

When we  saw the new house for the first time we thought we knew everything that was there. We knew about the two extra shops, one for me and one for my DH. We knew about the land and the oak trees all over the place. The one thing we did not know about was the most amazing surprise. The old owners have build a screened-in porch and it was not in the listing info. When I open the back door  I was delighted to see it. I knew that I was going to have the most wonderful time decorating it. I have done 90% of my decor in the new house very monochromatic. I knew I was going to use my colors in the porch since I wanted it to be cozy and happy. It has been so hot that this morning was the first time I actually sat and enjoy a cup of coffee in there. It has been raining for the last 3 days and it was really dark. The sun came back around 2:00 and it is beautiful outside right now.

I call this side my husband side since his beloved grill is there. He will spend Sundays doing barbecue of different kinds of meats. He is missing that since all we have been doing is work on getting the shop ready.
I missed my plants. The old house was landscaped really nicely. At this time we can't even think about gardening. I was told I need to plant in the fall for next spring.

                                                                     The way it was.

Take care my friends, till next time, Marta.

I'm still alive.

Friends, it has been soooo long. The hole moving, refinishing, remodeling both 2 houses and the shop have been more that I anticipate. Not even my over achiever, superwoman powers worked this time. My hair is literally falling off and I'm not getting enough sleep at all. I have stressed over having 3 mortgages and because the shop have been closed not having that extra income. I'm about to consolidate the little money I got left into a little bank account. I took a big chance and my prayers are that God will continue to oversee over my finances like He always had. I know how to make more money, I just need a little place where to sell from.
Good news, the house is almost done. I still have some tweaking to do. I believe we have done a lot in little time. Just some teaser photos of some of the rooms. I will do posts on every room later on. I hope you enjoy, I surely have enjoy decorating. Love you all, blessings, Marta.

Big progress

I want to show you some pictures of the progress in the new house. I will call the new kitchen most improved. We installed black granite counter tops and travertine backsplash. I love it so far, tomorrow doors go back on, sealer will be apply to everything. We will install the 50/50 sink with a goose neck faucet. The final details will be taken care of tomorrow. We decided to repaint the same color, it really needed the refresh, I have been painting for 3 days.

Next the bathroom. Remember this? Much improved.

I know, its a toilet, but I wanted to show you the tile work. This guys are really good at what they do.

I replace this ugliness with very simple pedestal sinks. I got the most beautiful piece to go in between the two. I removed the ugly medicine cabinet and dated cabinet. They added the extra tile for an extra 1000.oo. We ended with over 1800 sf of tile. I just love the look.

I can't wait to decorate this house. I love it and God willing we will retire here. Tomorrow more pictures of the finished rooms. What do you think? Blessings, Marta.

This is how it gets done in Texas

I have been told us Texans brag a lot. I say if you are good, there is no bragging, you simply got it going on. Point in case, my friend Krista and her husband Shawn. This two got the most amazing talent for finding the most amazing stuff. Not only they find it, they literally give it away. Krista had been working for weeks preparing for this mini show, not mini because they didn't have stuff, mini because they didn't have a large amount of people coming, mostly the folks that supported their antique shop. They are perfectionists, they meticulously pick their wares and because of those facts they achieve a lot of success in a very short amount of time. Then you add to that the fact that they are the best friends in life, they are kind and love taking care of people. They make you feel like they have been your friends for ages and this is not forced, it just comes from their heart. So for the three people that read my blog, I give you yumminess, straight from the heart of Texas.

We will do it again tomorrow. I believe we will put together something like this for my open house in a couple of months. I will keep you posted. Blessings, Marta.
