Happy Mothers Day!

Today we all got together and celebrated our mom. There are not enough words to express what our mom mean to all 3 of her kids. Her life had come full circle and finally she gets to live in peace and joy, being honored by the ones that loved her dearly. I can truly say that whatever qualities you see in us kids were learn by example and her wise ways. She is also a woman of God and we know that her prayers have even saved our lives. We loved you mama, more than we can ever say or show. Be blessed today and always.

A wonderful day

Today I went to Waco for some much needed fun with my friend Trish. We visited the flea market and about 5 shops all over town. I have not laugh so much in a long time and I will show and tell you why. One of the things I love the most about my job is the places and people you get to meet. This morning at the flea market we met a modern day viking. Yes, a viking! This fellow looked the part and I should have taken a picture, yellow teeth, long beard, a million tattoos, long tangled hair, super tight Beavis and Butt head t shirt...do you get the picture?. What really got us was the artifacts this guy was selling and his selling pitch. Ok, here are the pictures of the stuff.

Now the pitch. " Imagine you are in a parking lot and some dude comes to attack you, you take this weapon (referring to the little pin ball attached to the chain) swing it and wack him over the head, believe me you will knock him out". Then he pitch the little key which he sawder the tip  "With this one you place it between your two fingers and you jab and stab him, believe me, he won't mess with you", remember we are talking about the key with the half inch pointy edge. I can't help but pee in my pants as I write this one. The way he said it, believe me, he is a believer. Of all the "self-defense artifacts on that table he got to pick the two most inefficient ones and the way he try to sell them...never something sooo funny.

Have to admit tough some of the stuff was pretty mean looking and will definitely hurt someone if you were to use them, but those two he try to sell, NOT.
I took pictures of some amazing stuff but I will share those with you some other time. I just have to talk about this guy. Trish, I have not laughed so hard in a long time and today after last week sadness I needed some laughter. Thanks for all the fun, lets do it again soon. I think we will be laughing about this one for a while. Thank you God for the gift of great friends and for sending them to lift our spirits up at the right time. God is sooooo good.

It feels more like summer.

The thermostat in my house says early summer, still some of the spring flowers keep lingering, I still like to go outside, sit and watch. With all the rain in the last couple of weeks we did get to enjoy a green spring after a 2 years of not seeing my beautiful natives come out. Let me share some pictures I took around the property. pretty soon it all be brown.

My Juju having a ball playing in the bluebonnets. He will hop like a lamb and then swish his face against the flowers.

The back acreage is full of native daisies, bluebonnest and everything else.

This spot will make a perfect spot for a fire ring. Maybe someday.
The shop, the storage building and DH workshop.
A giant kennel with no dogs. Maybe I should start a pet hotel.

                                                                        My little house

The three amigos. This are 3 gigantic oaks in front of my house. I fell in love with this trees the moment I set foot in the property. I sit under them almost daily and thank God for them.
My neighbor's home and my driveway full of bluebonnets.

Some more wildflowers. got to love it.!
Thanks for indulging me. I think that is known to everybody that I LOVE the land that God provided for us. I pray for so many years and I finally found it one day. Everybody that set foot in it falls in love with it. It had been a source of joy for my family and my friends and a day doesn't go by that I thank God for it, for every tree, every flower, the possums, skunks, coyotes at night, the horse and mule sounds, the smell, everything about it. God is good.

The shop

Some photos of the shop before the big show. Today is all mostly gone.

This French table set is the one thing I'm most proud of. It was so much work but the final result was worth it.

The farm table was a pain in the....I have to completely strip that top and it took me 2 days. I rather paint over stuff. I gave it away, I hope they enjoy it.

Oh boy did we worked hard getting the shop to look nice. I collected, gathered, made, crafted, bought, hoarded as many new items as I could for the sale. I got to enjoy the final product for a day, that was it, all that work. It is such a funny thing, you want to sell, sell, but at the same time wish you get to enjoy it for a while longer. Tomorrow I'm coming to a dismantled shop, totally. I got pieces left over in storage and thought that will give me a little break and then...a dealer from Arlington came and bought me out. Sooo, back to start from scracht we go. Don't get me wrong, Thank you God for this. I leave you with some shots of the shop. Hope you enjoy!.

Just getting ready.

Work, work, work. Lots of it, non stopping for the next 4 weeks. What is going on, you may ask?. Trouble, that is. No, just fun, it will be when we all gather the 23 and 24 of March in my little piece of heaven called Marta's Room. We are having a spring sale, me and about 20 vendors in our property in Belton Tx. My vendors are excited and my costumers can't wait. I'm a mix of excited with little freaking out of my mind, what king of trouble have I gotten into this time kind of feeling but I know that at the end it all will be worth it. Sooo...I'm tired but wanted to share some pictures of some of the stuff. I will add more tomorrow, if I keep this pace I might be done with all the painting within the next two weeks, after that florals and sewing and the last 3 days the gates at the property will be closed so we can do some magic. Remember this are kind of rough drafts. We have to glaze, distress and add hardware  before it is all done.

My best friend Denise. I love her to pieces. She is a professional, married to my doctor, that don't even think twice about getting down and dirty playing with junk. We go from sprayer, to sanding to moving stuff inside the shop, to loading costumers. That have been the thing for the last 2 days. Tomorrow we'll do it again. Thank you God for surrounding me with friends like her.
Ok, this table.....arggg. I do not like chemicals, I rather sand or just plain prime and paint over stuff but in this case somebody varnish that sucker with I don't know how many layers of shiny gunk. Foolish me, thought, no big deal, stripper sandpaper, no sweat. Hah!...Took me 3 days to completely sand that top. The wood is beautiful though. I'm planning on using mix matching chairs all around it, no two alike.
This little one, same story. I don't want to guess how my lungs look like.

Why the truck?, No time to clean my ride. Somebody needs to come and detail my truck for cheap. I feel like a bag-lady living off her car.
This piece is almost finish. Denise worked all day distresing it and it turned out beautiful. Tomorrow she is cleaning the glass and finishing the inside.

Have to feed the crew. She is going to kill me.
Have you seen a happier face?. We all crazy, loving what we do,even though is such hard work.
And last, ok....don't laugh. My friends all make fun off me because they said I'll paint everything and anything if they let me. Maybe they right and here is the proof. YES! YES! YES! I PAINTED MY CHAIRS! If Ms Fifi O'Neill and all her fabulousity does it, why not me? Don't ask me, it is not the first time I have done it. I think it is already an improvement. I know you are going to want to know more about this, some other time I'll tell you.

We are not nearly done. We have 900 sf of good junk waiting for us to do some magic. The plan....no sleep for the next month. Afterwards, Roundtop, Cleburne and every other fabulous show in Texas.
